The gown
that gave the watch
its name

Around 1907, at the Palazzo Orfei in Venice, Mariano Fortuny and Henriette Negrin created the Delphos gown: a hand-pleated silk tunic, inspired by the chiton of the Charioteer of Delphi, which fell freely over the body and freed women from the corset. Fortuny understood before anyone that light is matter. The Delphos Series 193 takes up that baton: the dials shift in hue with every turn of the wrist, like the pleating of the tunic, and the sharp geometry of indices and hands recalls the tailor’s needle
