Around 1907, in the Palazzo Orfei in Venice, Mariano Fortuny and Henriette Negrin created the Delphos gown: a hand-pleated silk tunic, inspired by the chiton of the Charioteer of Delphi, that fell freely over the body and freed woman from the corset. Fortuny understood, before anyone else, that light is matter. The Delphos Series 193 takes up that legacy: the dials change hue with every turn of the wrist, like the pleating of the tunic, and the sharp geometry of markers and hands recalls the tailor’s needle
