THE TACHYMETER SCALE

An onboard calculator

The outer ring is not decoration. Time a kilometre and the hand points to your average speed: 500 at the top, 60 at the bottom, twenty-two values. This is how the pace of a stage was measured before electronics existed, and this is how it still works.

THE DIAL

Drawing-board green, marker-pen orange

Forest green as a base and an orange counter that leaps to the eye: the colours of a 1950s drawing board. The tachymeter ring graduates from orange to green around the dial.

The Strum Series 113 is drawn in the language of the chronographs of the 1960s and 1970s: cushion case, twin counters, tachymeter scale, the colours of the track. It copies no particular watch. It pays tribute to the pioneers of that era — drivers, mechanics, engineers, designers — and each model in the series bears the craft of one of them.
