Tarifa was born as a fishing enclave lashed by storms. In the 1980s, a tribe of windsurfing pioneers discovered that this climatic anomaly was the ultimate canvas. Today the cove of Valdevaqueros is Europe’s capital of the wind, a natural amphitheatre where the dune looks on as the ocean’s most extreme sports evolve.
In this hostile setting, technical equipment is a matter of survival. The Hydra collection carries that extreme resilience into mechanical watchmaking: a steel architecture, water resistance to 200 metres and oversized indices for reading the time in a fraction of a second, between the blinding sea spray and the flashes of the sun.

There is an enduring myth along these shores: the precise day when the direction of the Levante and the light of dusk align with the tide. The pull of the harness against the ribs, the salt crystallised in the eyes, the roar of forty-knot gusts. The Hydra is made for that very day.
THE DIAL
Legible amid the spray
Applied rhomboid indices and oversized luminescent hands: the Hydra dial reads at a glance amid the glare of the sun and suspended water. By night, the Super-LumiNova turns it into an instrument that keeps on speaking.
A sixty-minute rotating bezel with a knurled steel rim, a date window at three o’clock and the applied Hydra emblem at twelve. Nothing that does not serve to navigate.

The wind that gave the watch its name
Tarifa began as a fishing enclave battered by the storms of the Strait. In the eighties, a tribe of windsurfing pioneers discovered that this climatic anomaly was the ultimate canvas, and the cove of Valdevaqueros became the European capital of the wind.
Here the sea is no longer a flat surface. Kitesurfing lifts the rider from the water in ten-metre flights; windsurf boards slice through the swell at breathtaking speeds, and the wingfoil levitates above the surface in an almost unreal silence, borne aloft by carbon masts that glide beneath the water like blades.
The Hydra Serie 229 takes up that mantle. A wipeout at fifty kilometres per hour against a wall of salt water demands instruments capable of absorbing the ocean’s violence: steel, 200 metres of water resistance and a dial that can be read at a glance. Pure mechanical precision at the service of raw action.
