The botanist’s
patience

Luis Née travelled thousands of kilometres on foot, gathering, pressing and cataloguing plants, from the forests of the Americas to the shores of the Pacific. His herbarium stands among the great botanical collections of its age, and his craft was patience made method. The Encina is his watch: the green of the Mediterranean forest, the cream light that filters through the leaves, and the calm of one who knows that what matters grows slowly
